Hungary Etsy profit calculator — net margin per sale
Hungarian Etsy sellers often quote profit as sale price minus product cost. Real profit is what lands in your account after COGS, fees, shipping you pay, regulatory surcharge, and ads.
Profit formula (per order)
Net profit = Sale price − COGS − Outbound shipping − Etsy fees − Regulatory fee − Ad cost per unit
Hungary Etsy fees include transaction %, EU payment processing (EUR card rates), listing cost spread across units sold, the new regulatory operating fee, and optional off-site ads.
Hungary fee stack (2026 typical)
- Listing: €0.20 per listing (renewed every 4 months or on sale)
- Transaction: 6.5% of sale price + delivery
- Payment processing: ~4% + €0.30 per order (EU card rates)
- Regulatory operating fee: 1.97% of order total from June 22, 2026 (new)
- Off-site ads: 15% if enabled and order attributed (12% above $10K/yr Etsy sales)
Example: €40 handmade item
€40 sale · €12 COGS · €4 shipping · no ads → after Etsy stack + 1.97% regulatory you might keep ~€16–18, not €28.
At 40 units/month that's €400–480/mo difference between naive and real math — enough to decide if a SKU is worth scaling.
Why Hungary is different from June 22
Etsy introduced regulatory operating fees in several EU markets over the past years. Hungary had no surcharge until June 22, 2026 — sellers pricing from US or UK spreadsheets will undercount ~€0.79 on a €40 order until they update.
When to upgrade from a calculator
If you're doing 50+ orders/month across Etsy and Shopify, connected tools like TrueProfit (US$35+/mo) auto-pull fees from your store. Until then, fast what-if math with live regulatory rates is enough.
