Poshmark profit calculator — $2.95 vs 20% commission
Poshmark resellers often price from gross payout (sale minus COGS). Real profit is what you keep after Poshmark's commission, optional shipping discounts, and your sourcing cost.
Poshmark fee stack (US, 2026)
- Under $15 — flat $2.95 fee (not a percentage)
- $15 and above — 20% commission on sale price
- Prepaid shipping — included in commission (buyer pays ~$7.67 flat; seller gets label)
- No listing fee — free to list; fees only on completed sales
- Shipping discount — optional; $7.67 deducted from your payout if you offer free shipping
- Your costs — COGS, packing supplies, returns buffer
Canada uses C$3.95 flat under C$20 and 20% above. This guide targets US resellers.
Profit formula
Net profit = Sale price − COGS − Poshmark fee − Shipping discount (if any)
Fee = $2.95 if sale < $15, else 20% × sale price — the $15 threshold is a cliff: a $14.99 item pays $2.95 (21%); a $15 item pays $3.00 (20%).
Example: $50 resale item
$50 sale · $18 COGS · $0 ship discount · $10 Poshmark fee (20%) → net ≈ $22 (44%)
Same item at $12 COGS jumps to $28 net — but drop to $14 sale price and the $2.95 flat fee leaves only ~$7 after $4 COGS on low-ticket thrift flips.
Common margin mistakes
- Ignoring the $15 cliff — $12–14 items often have worse fee % than $20+ listings
- Free shipping without math — $7.67 discount on a $18 item can erase profit
- Offer-to-Liker discounts — 10–20% off drops you into a different fee tier and margin band
When to upgrade from a calculator
At 500+ sales/month across Poshmark + eBay + Mercari, cross-listing tools (Vendoo, PrimeLister) sync fees automatically. Until then, fast what-if math prevents sourcing losers — and a margin watch catches drift when you tweak prices.
